In 2016, Okanagan Regional Library conducted a review of our library services in the area. We engaged with community members and partners to learn about what they needed and what they would like to see offered at their library.
We are now excited to open our Learning Lab that will expand our services to meet the needs of the growing communities on the Westside and offer opportunities for learning, partnerships, and access to new technology.
The Learning Lab will focus on learning, technology, and partnerships. At this location, you will find regular classes and workshops related to learning and using different technologies. Experienced staff will be here to help you get started with using new technology and to answer your tech questions. This location will support activities like audio recording, video recording, 3D printing, coding, robotics, electronics and material cutting. You will also find a small collection of books, audiobook CDs, and DVDs you can borrow.
Meanwhile, the Westbank library branch will continue to focus on providing a large robust collection of material, and staff will be available to answer your research questions and refer you to helpful resources. The Westbank branch will also continue to focus on providing programs including storytimes and events for families and children.
The Westbank Friends of the Library, formed in February 2001, actively support the work of the library and its staff.
The monies raised from their book sales are used to buy non-budget items and to sponsor various programs and events that take place in the library.
The Friends also organize the popular Wednesday Evening Speakers Programs that take place in the library once a month during the winter/spring months.
If you would like more information or would like to attend a Friends of the Westbank Library meeting please contact the library at 250-768-4369.
Details about our Speakers Series program are posted on our branch calendar.
